The Ministry of Health has boosted Kisoro District’s healthcare capacity by supplying three theatre machines to improve access to surgical services.

The equipment, delivered on Monday by Kisoro District Woman MP Hon. Akifeza Grace Ngabirano, includes an X-ray film viewer, surgeon’s stool, patient monitor, operating lights, ceiling mounts, and other essential surgical apparatus. Two of the machines have been installed at Kisoro District Hospital, while the third went to Busanza Health Centre IV.

This development follows the Ministry’s recent donation of a blood bank to Kisoro General Hospital to address persistent blood shortages.

Hon. Akifeza said the machines will reduce the need for patients to travel to Kabale, Mbarara, or Mulago hospitals for surgery, reaffirming her commitment to prioritizing community health.

Kisoro Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr. Bahane Emmanuel, noted that the machines will significantly cut the burden on patients who previously traveled long distances for surgery.
