The government of Uganda, through funding from the World Bank, has secured Shs 2 billion to upgrade the 8-kilometre Omunkiiro–Nyakasa–Rushekyera–Rwakihazi–Mukoki road in Kavu Parish, Maziba Sub- County, Kabale District.

The development was confirmed by Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba, on Friday while campaigning in Kavu Parish as he seeks re-election in the 2026 general elections on an independent ticket.

Niwagaba revealed that the road will be upgraded under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP), implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). Niwagaba said the improved road network will help ease transport challenges and link farmers to markets.

He further urged residents to embrace coffee growing, reaffirming his commitment to lobby for increased government funding for agricultural inputs, particularly coffee and avocado seedlings, to boost household incomes during his next term in office.
