The Kabale Municipality parliamentary candidate Dan Musinguzi Nabaasa has graciously accepted the outcome of the 15th January 2026 general elections, striking a tone of unity, humility and hope following a closely watched and highly competitive race.
Nabaasa, who stood as an independent candidate, finished third in a field of seven contenders after polling 1,503 votes. The contest was won by the NRM flag bearer Andrew Aja Baryayanga, who secured 7,973 votes to defeat the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr Nicholas Kamara of the PFF, who garnered 7,313 votes.
Other candidates in the race included Aine Jessy of the FDC with 115 votes, Alex Edgar Muhwezi (Independent) with 318 votes, William Bakashaba (Independent) with 182 votes, and Arinaitwe Brian Denis (Independent), who received 60 votes.
In a heartfelt message to his supporters, Nabaasa said that while the results were not what he had hoped for, he accepted the verdict of the electorate with humility and respect for the democratic process.
“To every supporter who believed in my vision, to every volunteer who walked alongside me, and to every member of my team who gave their all, I thank you. Your faith in me has been the greatest honour of my life,” Nabaasa said.
He noted that his campaign was anchored in integrity, honesty and a shared dream of a better Kabale, adding that he carries no regrets.
“Together, we did everything we could. We campaigned with integrity, we spoke with honesty, and we dared to dream of a better Kabale. I know we served with pure hearts and touched many lives,” he added.
Nabaasa also congratulated all elected leaders and extended special congratulations to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, expressing hope that those entrusted with leadership will steer Kabale Municipality and the country toward development, unity and prosperity.
“Leadership is a sacred duty, not a privilege. History will judge not your words, but your deeds,” he said, calling on leaders to heal divisions and turn the aspirations of the people into reality.
Reaffirming his dedication to public service, Nabaasa emphasized that his commitment to Kabale does not end with the elections.
“Service is not about position, it is about purpose. I will continue serving Kabale and our country in whatever capacity I can,” he said.
He concluded his message with a familiar call to unity and shared vision, telling the people of Kabale:
“Tureebe Omumeisho, Tureebe Hare.”
