The Curate of St Paul’s Buchundura Catholic Church Parish in Rukiga District, Rev Fr Brian Monday has called on Christians and leaders alike to uphold justice, peace, and integrity following the recent leadership selection process in the country.
In his homily during the Morning Mass at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale Municipality on Monday, Rev Fr Brian emphasized that leadership is a sacred responsibility rooted in clear principles meant to guide society and the people of God toward peace, security, and harmony.
He reminded the congregation that true leadership must be anchored in respect for the law, the Constitution, and moral values.
“Justice and peace must first reign in our hearts before they can reign in our society,” Rev Fr Brian said, urging believers to remain steadfast in prayer and hope even in challenging times.
He acknowledged that the country has recently undergone a critical period of choosing leaders and noted that many individuals entrusted with overseeing such processes are knowledgeable about the law and constitutional principles.
However, he cautioned that any deviation from agreed procedures for selfish interests undermines public trust and the common good.
Despite these concerns, Rev Fr Brian delivered a message of hope, encouraging Christians not to lose faith.
He reminded the faithful that when human systems falter, God remains the ultimate source of justice and deliverance.
Drawing from biblical history, he referenced the story of King Saul as a lesson on the dangers of manipulating lawful and divine processes for personal gain, stressing that such actions never endure.
Rev Fr Brian asked believers to continue praying for the nation, its leaders, and its institutions, expressing confidence that God’s justice will prevail in His own time.
He urged Ugandan’s to remain peaceful, united, and committed to moral principles that promote lasting peace and development.
