One person has been confirmed dead and others injured following a serious road accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Kabale Municipality along the Mbarara–Kisoro road.

The 4:00 pm crash involved a Toyota Hiace taxi, registration number UBP 631Q, driven by 41-year-old Arinde Annex, and a Toyota Corona, registration number UAM 718U, reportedly driven by an unidentified woman.

According to preliminary police findings, the Toyota Corona, which was approaching from the main highway, allegedly branched onto a one-way route in Kigongi and collided with the oncoming taxi. The impact caused the Hiace to overturn.

Police confirmed that an unidentified male adult died in the accident, while other victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Officers PC Nampa and PC Zabandola visited the scene, documented the crash, and drew a sketch plan. The Uganda Police Force attributes the primary cause of the accident to careless driving by the driver of the Toyota Corona.
