KAMPALA: The Uganda Police Force has dismissed social media allegations claiming that the Division Police Commander (DPC) of Katwe, Superintendent of Police David Kamugira, has died along Salama Road.

In a statement released on Thursday, April 10, 2025, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that Superintendent Kamugira is alive, safe, and continues to diligently carry out his duties in Katwe Division.

The false reports, which have gone viral particularly on TikTok have caused widespread shock among the public.

Owoyesigyire condemned the misleading video, suggesting that its creators may have ulterior motives.

“It appears their aim is to undermine the work of the DPC, particularly his efforts in combating gang-related crimes in the area crimes that have, in some instances, been linked to individuals who are musicians,” said Owoyesigyire.
