KASESE: The Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime has issued a warning to residents living near River Nyamwamba to seek temporary shelter with friends and relatives in safer areas.

SP Tumushime emphasized the urgency of relocating to higher ground until the river’s turbulent waters subside.

This warning follows River Nyamwamba bursting its banks on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of at least two people in Kizungu, Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality. One of the victims, Teopista Masika, was a resident of Kyalhumba. Police Fire and Rescue Services are working tirelessly to rescue those still trapped in Kiwa Heritage.
