The government has commenced the extension of electricity to the villages of Rujanjara, Rwanyangabo, and Bwayu in Nyamweru Sub County, Rubanda East County, Rubanda District, bringing much-needed relief and boosting business opportunities in the area.

Teams from the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) are already on the ground erecting electricity poles, a development residents say will improve livelihoods and promote economic growth.

Speaking during a joint wedding ceremony at St. Paul’s Church of Uganda, Nangara Parish, Nyamweru Sub County on Saturday, Rev. Just Ayebare, the parish priest and treasurer of the Diocese of Kigezi, together with Dan Isaya, the Rubanda District LC5 Councilor for Nyamweru Sub County, commended Finance Minister (General Duties) Henry Musasizi, who also doubles as the area Member of Parliament, for prioritizing service delivery.

They, however, urged government to extend power connections to Rwabusingo and Rugoma villages, which they said host thriving businesses in urgent need of electricity.

“We thank the government and our area MP for bringing electricity to our communities, but we also appeal that Rwabusingo and Rugoma be considered next because business activity there is growing fast,” Rev. Ayebare and Councilor Isaya noted.

In his response, Minister Musasizi called for continued patience and trust from the people of Rubanda East, assuring them of his commitment to fulfilling his pledges.

“When I told you that electricity would come, I meant it because the paperwork was already completed. Now I ask for your patience and trust as I work to deliver more. All I need is your trust and support,” Minister Musasizi said.
