KISORO: Angry residents in Kisoro Hill Village, Kisoro Municipality, have chased away a self-proclaimed pastor, accusing her of causing increased violence and family breakups among residents.
The pastor, identified as Justine Majambere, is in her 40s and has been living in Russia, a section of Kisoro Hill Village, for over five years. Originally from Mubuga-Gasave in Nyakinama Sub-county, Kisoro District, Majambere had moved to Russia in search of urban services and rented a place there.
Residents allege that she is responsible for various family breakups and incidents of violence in the area. They claim that her negative prophecies, such as predicting deaths, school dropouts, beatings, and robberies, invariably come true.
Residents further argue that living with such individuals hinders the development of the area. Russia in Kisoro Hill, Kisoro Municipality, is known as a hideout for criminals, which exacerbates the residents’ concerns.

The LC1 chairperson of Kisoro Hill Village, Sam Munezero, confirmed to our reporter that Justine Majambere had been living in his village and that he had been receiving numerous complaints from residents requesting permission to expel her from the area. Although Majambere had over 50 followers from different sub-counties of Kisoro District, she was rescued by Kisoro police during the attack by the residents.
