KISORO: Residents residing near Christ Heart Ministries in Kashegeshi village, Busamba ward, Kisoro Municipality, have raised concerns about the excessive noise pollution emanating from the church.
They lament that the noise levels from the church have escalated to unbearable extents, depriving them of peaceful sleep. A tenant, who prefers to remain anonymous, residing in close proximity to the church, expresses frustration over the incessant noise generated by the congregants’ laughter, clapping, shouting, stamping, and singing, which resonates loudly throughout the neighborhood.
Benedetti Sabiiti, a landlord in the vicinity, voices similar grievances, asserting that the volume of singing and praying, particularly during nighttime, disrupts their right to sleep. She attributes the heightened noise pollution to the negligence of municipal leaders, who have failed to enforce regulations concerning noise levels in churches.

When approached for comment, Jonathan Mukwaya, the Administrator of Christ Heart Ministries, declined to address the allegations, dismissing them as unfounded. In response, Ayubu Kisubi, the Town Clerk of Kisoro Municipality, warns that churches causing noise disturbances risk closure, pledging intervention from his office to address the residents’ grievances.
