Police in Rubanda District are investigating a tragic incident in which a 37-year-old man reportedly took his own life following a domestic dispute with his wife.

The deceased, identified as Barnabas Mugabe, a resident of Karukara Cell, Karukara Ward, Hamurwa Town Council, was found hanging with a rope in the corridor of his bedroom on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at around 9:30 a.m.

According to preliminary reports, Mugabe and his wife, Lelia Ahimbisibwe, had been experiencing longstanding domestic misunderstandings.

On the night of the incident, at about 8:00 p.m., Mugabe allegedly returned home and found his wife preparing supper.

He reportedly removed the food from the fire before it was ready and began assaulting her while attempting to take away their one-month-old baby.
