Rubanda Woman MP Urges Women to Shun Gossip and Champion Family Unity

RUBANDA – The Commissioner of Parliament and Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Prosy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi has cautioned women against engaging in rumor-spreading that could disrupt families.

Speaking at Hakirondorondo and Nyamiyaga trading centers, as well as Ikumba Sub County headquarters on Monday 30th October 2023, she conducted a meeting to introduce her new initiative, “Prosperous Women Rubanda (PWR),” aimed at supporting women’s livelihoods.

Akampurira stressed that gossiping and spreading false information violate family members’ rights and are unacceptable. Instead, she urged women to leverage their influence and wisdom to foster peace and unity within the family.

Emphasizing women’s potential as change agents in both family and society, she encouraged them to utilize their power for promoting harmony.

The Commissioner urged women to advocate for their families and communities, speaking out against violence and abuse.

She also motivated them to actively participate in family decision-making processes and stand up for their rights. In closing, Akampurira emphasized the role of women in promoting positive change.

In response, Nyaruhanga ward LC2 Chairperson Edivinah Mbahika commended the legislator for extending the project to the community, expressing optimism that it would bring about positive transformations in families.
