Police in Rukungiri District have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of 23-year-old Sunday Innocent Akim, a resident of Ncwera Cell, Rweshama Parish, Bwambara Sub-county.
The suspects have been identified as Mujuni Moses and his wife, Mugabirwe Goodrah.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 4:00 PM. Mugabirwe Goodrah, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, went to the home of Tusiime Harriet, wife to the deceased and began insulting her, claiming she would not be able to deliver her pregnancy.
Mujuni Moses, who was inside his house at the time, overheard the commotion, got out of bed, and joined his wife in verbally abusing Harriet.
Disturbed by the escalating situation, Harriet called her husband, Sunday Innocent Akim, to report the incident. Akim arrived home at around 9:00 PM and found the argument ongoing.
As he attempted to intervene in defense of his wife, a physical altercation broke out.
It is alleged that Mujuni Moses pulled Akim outside and began to fight him. During the scuffle, Moses reportedly instructed his wife to bring him a knife so he could kill Akim.
Goodrah complied, and Moses used the knife to stab Akim in the neck. The victim collapsed and died instantly.
