The Rwenzururu Kingdom Premier, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, has urged Ugandans to support cancer runs as a way of promoting healthy living and raising funds to fight the disease.
Baritazale, who was the Chief Guest at Sunday’s cancer run held at Kilembe Quarter Playground in Kasese Municipality, applauded the hundreds of participants for turning up, saying physical fitness was crucial in the fight against obesity and related health risks.
He also used the occasion to invite the public to the Rwenzururu King’s birthday run festival slated for October 14, 2025, which he said would further promote fitness and community solidarity.

Independent Kasese Municipality MP aspirant, Francis Kithulha Mugisa, commended residents for embracing the cause, noting that proceeds from the run would support the purchase of a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) cancer machine for St. Francis Nsambya Hospital. The machine will help in the early detection and diagnosis of cancer.
