Police in Kabale District are actively hunting for a male suspect in connection with the murder of a female adult, whose identity is believed to be Orishaba Allen, although this has not been conclusively verified.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Cheers Pub and Accommodation, behind the former Equity Bank building in Central East Cell, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.
Preliminary information indicates that at around 9:45 PM, the deceased checked into the lodge with a male companion who identified himself as Andy Julius, reportedly from Katuna. The woman was registered under the name Orishaba Allen, though police are yet to confirm if this is her real name. The two were accommodated in a room for the night.
However, at approximately 9:51 AM on Wednesday a lodge attendant discovered the lifeless body of the woman lying in a pool of blood on the bed, with four visible stab wounds on the chest and abdomen. Police says that knife was found abandoned beside her body.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says that the scene was promptly reported to Kabale Central Police Station.
He revealed that Police responded and documented the scene, recovered exhibits include the suspected murder weapon (a knife), an unused HIV/syphilis test kit, and a syringe.
The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. He appealed to anyone missing a female relative or friend fitting this description to visit the hospital mortuary for identification and arrangements for a decent burial.
He also asked anyone with information that could lead to the identification or arrest of the suspect to contact the police immediately as investigations are ongoing.
