Parental Care Nursery and Primary School, Bushenyi, emerged champions of the inaugural Uganda National Schools Scrabble Championship after defeating eight other schools in a competition aimed at promoting literacy, confidence and critical thinking among learners.

The championship, organised by the Scrabble Association of Uganda under the theme “Bringing Scrabble to Schools,” was held at Gayaza Junior School. The tournament attracted both primary and secondary schools from across the country.

The competition sought to boost learners’ vocabulary, grammar, confidence and self-belief through the strategic word game, which is played by forming interconnected words horizontally and vertically on a game board.

Schools that competed in the primary category included Gayaza Junior School, Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi, Good Times School Kawala, St. Catherine Junior School and Janan Nursery School.
