Counsel Eliab Naturinda Mporera, a parliamentary hopeful for Ndorwa West County, has donated 50 desks valued at Shs 7.5 million to St. Jude Nursery and Primary School, Hamuganda, an annex of Katenga Primary School in Kituuma Sub County, Kabale District.
Through Patrick Tumuranze Counsel Naturinda reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting communities without bias. He emphasized that his contribution was a personal initiative, motivated solely by a passion for development, unaffected by tribal, religious, or political affiliations.
He called upon Christians and residents of Hamuganda Hiika to reject divisive politics and instead unite behind leaders who are hardworking, cooperative and development-oriented.
“Education is the cornerstone of every successful person,” he noted, urging parents and the Christian community to prioritize it as a lasting legacy for future generations.
Local education leaders expressed their gratitude for Counsel Eliab’s consistent support throughout the constituency. Akahurirokushaba Steven, Headteacher of St. Jude Nursery and Primary School, and Byagageire Innocent, Headteacher of Katenga Primary School, praised him for his reliability and fulfillment of promises.
Akahurirokushaba encouraged parents to follow Counsel Naturinda’s example by valuing and investing in their children’s education.
He also warned against vote-buying, noting that while some voters may receive more money than others, every vote carries equal weight.
Kenema Dinavensi, the catechist at Hamuganda Hiika, lauded Counsel Naturinda for his patriotism and unwavering support for education.
Citing John 15:2–3, she likened his actions to bearing good fruit through service.
“Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will bear even more fruit,” she quoted.
The school is also grappling with deteriorating state of infrastructure putting the safety and education of more than 500 pupils in jeopardy, raising urgent concerns among parents and local leaders.
The school is grappling with dilapidated buildings, overcrowded classrooms, broken latrines, and a dire shortage of desks turning learning into a daily struggle.
Akahuriira says that the school is also battling with a shortage of teachers. Despite these persistent challenges, he noted that the school continues to strive for academic improvement.
