KABALE – The President of the Green Environment Promotion (GEP), Ninsiima Evelyn Kikafunda has urged students to prioritize their education over engaging in sexual activities.
Speaking at the awards ceremony for high-performing candidates in 2023 PLE at St. Maria Goretti Preparatory School, held at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral, Kikafunda emphasized the importance of following the example set by St. Maria Goretti, an Italian virgin martyr of the Catholic Church.
Stressing the significance of abstaining from sex, Kikafunda recounted the story of St. Maria Goretti, who was martyred for refusing to succumb to the advances of men seeking sexual favors. She highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw a rise in teenage pregnancies, and urged young women to focus on their education to secure a brighter future for themselves.
Addressing students who may not have achieved top marks, Kikafunda reassured them that grades do not define their potential. She encouraged them to cultivate confidence and self-esteem for their future endeavors.
