Seek Divine Intervention to Pass Exams – KIMUVOTI Director Encourages Candidates in Kisoro

KISORO – The Director of Kisoro Municipal Vocational Training Institute (KIMUVOTI), Honorable Sam Byibesho, has urged senior four candidates in the district and across the country to remain composed, stay firm, diligently revise notes, and consider seeking divine intervention through prayer to achieve success in the upcoming UCE exams.

The 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) Exams are scheduled to commence on Monday, the 16th of October, beginning with Geography paper one in the morning and paper two in the afternoon. A total of 364,421 students are set to sit for the UCE exams nationwide.

In an interview with our reporter, Hon. Sam Byibesho, a former Kisoro Municipality Member of Parliament and an experienced educator, extended his heartfelt wishes for success to all candidates. He emphasized that obtaining a senior four certificate represents a significant achievement for their future endeavors.

Cutting to Sam Byibesho’s briefing, he highlighted Kisoro Municipal Vocational Training Institute as the premier choice for candidates seeking to complete their studies in a shorter time frame. Emphasizing the competitiveness of the job market, he underscored the importance of joining KIMUVOTI after completing senior four and primary seven education due to the institute’s offering of highly marketable courses.

Additionally, Byibesho revealed a strategic alliance between the institute and Makerere University to provide Diploma courses in Education, catering especially to teachers upgrading from nursery education and those upgrading from Grade III certificates.

Referring to the 2021 Ministry of Sports and Education directive, which phased out 23 PTC colleges, Byibesho explained that this move aimed to bring an end to Grade III certificates and Early Childhood Education Certificates for nursery teachers. Holders of the phased-out certificates are required to upgrade to either Diploma or Bachelor certificates within 10 years.

Given the challenges posed by the closure of Kisoro PTC and the inconvenience for learners traveling to Kampala for bachelor education and to Kabale for Diploma Education, Hon. Sam Byibesho highlighted the benefits of the affiliation between Kisoro Municipal Vocational Training Institute and Makerere University. This partnership is expected to ease access to these courses for people in and around Kisoro.
