The Kisoro District NRM Youth League delegates have officially pledged their support for Hillary Twasiima, the Kamuganguzi Sub-county Youth League Chairperson, in his bid for the National Youth League Chairperson position in the upcoming party elections.
The endorsement was made during a strategic meeting on Saturday in Kisoro District, where NRM youth leaders gathered to rally behind Twasiima’s candidacy.
The meeting was chaired by Ivan Machari, commonly known as Siboman, who serves as the Kisoro District Youth League Chairperson.
In his remarks, Machari underscored the importance of unity and choosing a leader who genuinely represents youth interests.
He criticized past youth leaders for prioritizing personal agendas over public service, leading to poor service delivery.
“We need a leader who speaks for us, not just for themselves. Twasiima has the vision and commitment to be that leader,” Machari stated.
The delegates called on Twasiima to be their bridge to the National Youth League, advocating for their concerns at the highest levels of party leadership.
In his address, Twasiima emphasized the significance of having strong youth representation on the NRM’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
He promised to be a voice for young people across the country and pledged to champion initiatives focused on youth empowerment and development.
“I am ready to be the cornerstone of youth progress in this country. Our voices must be heard where key decisions are made,” Twasiima told the gathering.
Twasiima was accompanied by fellow youth leaders from the Kigezi sub-region, including Ivan Niwagaba, the Rubanda District NRM Youth League Chairperson, and Twesingomwe Trust, Vice Chairperson of Kabale District.
His campaign was officially launched on Tuesday, June 10th, during a consultative meeting held at White Horse Inn in Kabale Municipality.
The event brought together youth delegates from six districts across the Kigezi sub-region, marking the formal start of his journey toward national leadership.
