KISORO
The Kisoro deputy Resident District Commissioner Robert Tukamuhebwa has given the Kisoro Municipal authorities a deadline of one week to ensure the sanitation in Gatimba market is properly managed or it will be permanently closed down.
While speaking to our reporter, Tukamuhebwa said he conducted an inspection visit to Gatimba market with some Municipal authorities and found the place in bad condition.
Gatimba market, opposite DFCU bank is one of the major markets for food including Matooke from Ntungamo, Irish potatoes and vegetables.
Tukamuhebwa says if the market conditions are not improved within one week, his office will close down the market before an outbreak of a disease.
Kisoro Mayor Richard Ndyana says all businesses in Kisoro must do their best to ensure personal hygiene and not wait on Municipal authorities.
He said the Municipality is committed to finding a lasting solution to hygiene and sanitation in Gatimba market.
