The Kabale Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ronald Mutegeki, has cautioned health workers in the district against absenteeism, saying effective service delivery can only be realized if medical staff consistently report to duty and execute their roles diligently.

Mutegeki issued the warning on Friday while addressing in-charges of government health centres during the Health Sector Quarterly Performance Review Meeting held at Rukiiko Hall, Makanga Hill in Kabale Municipality.

He stressed the importance of punctuality, communication, and adherence to reporting structures, noting that timely submission of performance reports is vital in tracking progress and improving the sector’s overall output.

Kabale District Health Officer, Dr. Gilbert Arineitwe Mateeka, explained that the quarterly review meetings are aimed at assessing service delivery, identifying shortfalls, and discussing the prevailing disease situation.

He added that the meetings also prepare the district for the national assessment exercise conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister, in which Kabale’s health sector ranked eighth nationwide in the last evaluation.

Speaking at the same meeting, Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Michael Muramira Kyakashaari, urged health centre in-charges to ensure proper management of public resources, including medical equipment.

He emphasized that staff at lower health facilities play a key role in mobilizing communities to seek better health services.

Kyakashaari further called for strict timekeeping and daily attendance by medical personnel, revealing that the district intends to start holding service delivery barazas to evaluate the quality of services across all sectors and identify areas needing improvement.
