Bishop Stuart University (BSU) has emerged as the first runner-up in the 12th Annual National Inter-University Constitutional Law Moot Competition, organized by the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD).
The two-day contest took place at Hotel Africana in Kampala from August 28 to 29, 2025.
BSU’s Faculty of Law was represented by third-year students Ainebyoona Marvin and Kamukama Susan, who impressed a panel of magistrates and five Justices of the Supreme Court with their grasp of constitutional principles, persuasive submissions, and strong courtroom presence.
After two rounds of intense advocacy, BSU scored 74 percent, securing second place behind Cavendish University, which emerged overall winner with 80.2 percent.
The moot was held under the theme “Navigating divergent perspectives in promoting reproductive and gender justice in Uganda.”
The competition drew participation from leading law faculties, including Makerere University, Islamic University in Uganda, Gulu University, Kampala International University, Nkumba University, Uganda Pentecostal University, International University of East Africa, King Ceasor University, Metropolitan International University, and Bishop Stuart University.
Ms Rose Kuribakanya Rwankore, the University Senior Public Relations Officer says that the strong performance marks a significant milestone for BSU’s Faculty of Law, which continues to position itself as a center for producing competent and practice-ready legal professionals.
