Kabale District Registers 133 HIV Cases.

KABALE- Kabale district local government has registered 133 new cases of HIV infections.

According to the district health educator, Alfred Besigensi, the  cases were registered between the month of October and December 2022.

Besigensi says that 19 out of the 133 cases were pregnant or lactating women.

He adds that 8060 HIV clients tested for viral load and 7649 equivalent to 94.9 percent were viral suppressed.

Besigensi however calls for support from media companies to popularize health services such that by 2030 HIV is eliminated from being a public threat.

However, Besigensi revealed that the district also registered 143 cases of Tuberculosis.

“Among the cases, 86 patients are male whereas 57 are female” Besigensi said.

He says that out of 143 cases, 23 cases are children between 0-14 years.
