KABALE: Kabale Regional Referral Hospital in Southwestern Uganda, Kabale District is stuck with six unidentified and decomposing bodies.

Serving the six districts comprising Kigezi Sub-region, the hospital’s mortuary has held these bodies since November 2023. Speaking anonymously to our reporter today, one of the mortuary attendants disclosed this unsettling reality.

Among the deceased is 21-year-old James Tuyizere, a Rwandan national, who tragically passed away last month while in transit aboard a Horizon-bound bus with registration number UAM 218H. This bus was en route from Kampala to Kisoro district.

The situation has instilled fear among residents and the business community due to the pervasive stench emanating from the decomposing bodies. When approached for comment, Hospital Administrator Dr. Nelson Obote opted not to respond, redirecting our reporter to Kabale Municipality Town Clerk, Justine Barekye.
