KABAROLE: Kabarole District is facing a severe challenge with a teenage pregnancy rate of 23%, a crisis that has alarmed district authorities.

Dr. Stephen Kalyegira, the District Health Officer, reported that the rising teenage pregnancy rate has also fueled an increase in HIV cases, which jumped from 10.6% in 2022 to 11.8% in 2023.

The most affected sub-counties include Kicwamba, which has a rate of 30%, along with Harugongo, Hakibale, Karangura, Kasenda, Mugusu, and Kabende.

Dr. Kalyegira calls on all partners to unite in sensitizing the community and engaging the youth to help curb this troubling trend.
