Over 290 Million Shillings Raised for Maternity and Children’s Wards at Rwingwe Health Centre III in Kisoro

KISORO: Over 290 million shillings were collected on Saturday during a fundraising event to construct maternity and children’s wards at Rwingwe Health Centre III in Nyakabande Sub-county, Kisoro District.

Hundreds of people, including politicians and officers from the Ministry of Defence, gathered at Mashaka Playground in Mutolere, contributing this significant amount of money.

The fundraising event was organized by Bufumbira East Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. James Nsababuturo, who, along with his family and friends, contributed over 100 million shillings. Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip, was the guest of honor, representing the Minister of Defence, Hon. Oboth Oboth. He encouraged the people of Kisoro to work together to complete the project, ensuring that mothers can deliver at the health facility without having to travel long distances for assistance.

Okiding highlighted the role of the UPDF in protecting people and urged the public to support one another, as no one can solve all their problems alone.

Retired Gen. Kale Kayihura paid tribute to the UPDF leadership for maintaining their mission of being a people’s army. He noted that their presence reflects the ideology of the NRA forces. Kayihura also urged the public to maintain good nutrition within their families to reduce the burden of frequent hospital visits.
