NEWS – The ongoing collaborative efforts of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have resulted in the elimination of a member of the Allied Democratic Forces Rebels.
The identity of the deceased rebel has been withheld from the public by the press. This significant development transpired during Operation Shujja, conducted jointly by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday of this week.
The operation unfolded in the expansive vicinity of Mwalika Valley.
According to Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, the Spokesperson for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, this operation also culminated in the successful rescue of three women and three children.
Additionally, Kulayigye disclosed that the combined forces made substantial seizures, including 204 rounds of PMK Machine Gun ammunition, 41 rounds of Sub-Machine Gun ammunition, and three empty magazines.
Brigadier General Kulayigye conveyed that the united forces, commanded by Maj Chombe, are diligently scouring the expanse of Mwalika Valley in North Kivu Province, situated in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
He affirmed that arrangements are currently underway for the safe evacuation of the individuals who were rescued during the operation.
