KAMPALA – Pastor Aloysius Bugingo was targeted in a recent attack with the same firearm used in the fatal shooting of vlogger Isma Olaxes, according to forensic experts.
The assailants, unidentified, not only targeted Bugingo but also killed his bodyguard and driver, Cpl Richard Muhumuza, known as “Mukadde we kanisa” in Bugingo’s church.
Ballistic examination confirmed the connection between the recovered bullets from Bugingo’s vehicle, the crime scene, and projectiles from Muhumuza’s body to Olaxes’ killer pistol.
Olaxes was murdered in May 2023, and the weapon used in his case had remained untraceable.
Muhumuza, a well-trained soldier in the Special Forces Command, suffered 13 bullet wounds, and seven bullets were retrieved from his body.
Bugingo’s vehicle, riddled with 11 visible bullet holes, has been transferred from the Directorate of Forensic Science to the Criminal Investigations Directorate.
However, conflicts arose over custody, leading to the decision to hand it over to the Inspector of Vehicles Officer at Old Kampala.
The investigation, led by Senior Commissioner of Police Beata Chelimo, involves the scrutiny of seven CCTV videos from Salt Media premises and various police security cameras.
This thorough examination aims to uncover the complete truth behind the attempted assassination.
