The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law, promoting accountability and combating corruption as key pillars of good governance.

The commitment was reiterated on Thursday during the launch of the Uganda Law Society’s State of the Rule of Law Report for the first and second quarters of 2026, held at the Uganda Law Society House in Kampala under the theme, “Resist Lawlessness.”

Representing the Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, the Director of Legal Affairs, Ms Hilda Talibba, said the IG’s core mandate is to promote good governance and ensure strict adherence to the rule of law and principles of natural justice.

Ms Talibba said the Directorate of Legal Affairs plays a critical role in executing the mandate through litigation and prosecution in courts, as well as the recovery of public assets.
