Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Candidate, Grace Ankunda Bekunda Bwesigye, has vowed to advocate for improved pay for health workers if elected in the 2026 general elections.

She made the pledge during a campaign rally held on Monday at Kibuga Health Centre III in Kibuga Sub- County, Ndorwa West County, Kabale District.

Ankunda highlighted that health workers often go on strike due to low salaries, a situation that disrupts medical services and sometimes results in loss of lives.

She promised that, if elected to Parliament, she would push for better remuneration to motivate health workers and ensure consistent service delivery to the community.

The candidate also pledged to lobby for the installation of water harvesting tanks in hilly areas such as Kisibo Parish, which continue to face severe water shortages.

Local residents told Ankunda that they walk over four kilometers down steep hills to fetch unsafe water. Evelyn Naturinda and Pius Rwabona said they had previously reported the water challenges to local leaders without any resolution, warning that continued use of unclean water exposes the community to waterborne diseases.
