Police in Kisoro District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a boda boda rider whose body was found inside a bar in Kamonyi Ward, Kisoro Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Habiyaremye Jonas, a resident of Chanika Town Council in Kisoro District.
According to police, Habiyaremye reportedly went to a bar in Kamonyi Cell, Northern Division, on September 4 and consumed alcohol. Police said he allegedly drank excessively and was allowed to sleep on a mat inside the bar, where the two suspects also sleep.
The following morning, September 5, Habiyaremye was found dead inside the bar, prompting police to launch investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police have arrested two suspects, identified as Erinatwe Spencer, 21, and Irankunda Mable, 23, as investigations continue.
Kigezi Region police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime cautioned bar owners to install security lights and CCTV cameras and avoid operating late into the night. He also urged members of the public to avoid excessive consumption of alcohol.
