Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force, has urged Ugandan troops deployed in South Sudan to maintain strict discipline and a high level of combat readiness through continuous training.
While addressing soldiers serving under Operation Mulinzi wa Kimya, Lt Gen Muhanga emphasized that vigilance, training, and discipline remain the cornerstone of the UPDF’s operational doctrine.
“These are key pillars of the UPDF’s core values,” he affirmed.
The Ugandan contingent in South Sudan is currently under the command of Brigadier General Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi, who accompanied Lt Gen Muhanga during his visit and engagements with the troops.
Lt Gen Muhanga commended the soldiers for their role in promoting regional peace and security.
“Your efforts in maintaining security in South Sudan are commendable and reflect the UPDF’s unwavering commitment to peacekeeping in the region,” he said.
As part of his visit, Lt Gen Muhanga also held a high-level meeting with General Paul Nang Majok, Chief of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF). The two leaders reaffirmed the strong defence ties between Uganda and South Sudan and reiterated their countries’ shared commitment to promoting peace and stability across the region.
