The State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (Industry), David Bahati, has dismissed claims that he evicted the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party offices from a building he owns in Kabale Municipality following his recent defeat in the Ndorwa West County parliamentary primaries.
The allegations, which began circulating on Friday night, claimed that shortly after the announcement of results, NRM office staff were instructed to vacate the premises. The building, located in Kabale Town, has reportedly hosted the party offices rent-free for years under Minister Bahati’s support.
It was also alleged that Bahati had tendered his resignation as NRM Chairperson for Kabale District and would formally submit the letter to the NRM Secretariat on Monday.
Additional reports claimed that he planned to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming general elections, going against the party’s position.
In response on Saturday, Minister Bahati dismissed the reports as baseless and malicious.
“I urge the public to disregard these falsehoods and evil propaganda being circulated,” he stated. “My commitment to the ideals and principles of the NRM under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni remains unwavering.”
He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Ndorwa West County, Kabale District, and Uganda, saying, “Our resolve to serve remains solid and total. Nothing has changed, and nothing will change.
