The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi, has urged the Insurance Training College (ITC) to continue producing highly competent professionals to support the growth and development of Uganda’s insurance sector.

Minister Musasizi said the college had, by June 2026, trained more than 10,000 insurance professionals, up from about 4,000 in 2021.

He also commended the ITC Board and Management for strengthening corporate governance and contributing to the institution’s growth.

Minister Musasizi made the remarks on Thursday while meeting the ITC team led by Board Chairman Dr. Abdul Hafiz Walusimbi and Principal and Chief Executive Officer Saul Sseremba.

Founded in 1964 as the educational division of Uganda’s insurance industry, ITC has expanded its role in insurance education and professional development.

Dr. Walusimbi said the college’s key achievements over the past five years include strategic leadership, stronger corporate governance, growth in its financial base and expanded partnerships across Africa.

Sseremba said insurance education had also been integrated into the secondary school curriculum, while more than 700 entrepreneurship teachers had been trained across the country.

He, however, called for support towards the development of the ITC campus on land already acquired, saying the institution is focused on becoming Africa’s leading centre for insurance education.
