KABALE- A city is not an entertainment theatre, Hon. Minister Musasizi Ariganyira has re-echoed his voice that Kabale Municipality will not be upgraded into a city.
The state minister for finance in charge of general duties Hon Henry Ariganyira Musasizi on Saturday insisted that Kabale municipality will not be upgraded to the city status before the government constructs better health facilities, roads and schools that shall bring development in people because a city is not a bandstand.
Musasizi was delivering his speech at the endorsement function of Ndorwa east constituency Member of Parliament Hon Wilfred Niwagaba which was held at Golf Inn hotel located in Makanga, Kabale district, after a yet to be identified person raised his voice from the congregation and asked Musasizi to confirm whether the allegations for Kabale not to get a city are for real.
Musasizi replied to him while saying that if we have well-constructed roads such as of Bunyonyi, Rubuguri, Katuna-Muko and well modernized health facilities like Kamukyira LC IV for assisting Kabale regional referral hospital, people should not demand for a city that shall be only a decoration to their sights.
He added that that a city is just a creation of new administrations such as Members of Parliament and among others.
However, the Local Government’s minister Raphael Magyezi, says that his ministry that is charged with the responsibility operationalizing the remaining five cities has not received any information from the head of State to change the opposition of Parliament that was approved in 2020.
Magyezi said that he intends to meet the minister Musasizi to harmonize the information he uttered on Sunday. He added that people of Kabale should remain optimistic about the city saying that any changes should be officially communicated to people.
During his visit to the Kabale municipality to harmonize the irregularities within the reallocation of vendors to the newly constructed Kabale central market, Magyezi asked the people and the leadership of Kabale municipality to prepare and organize the municipality ahead of a proposed Kabale city come 2025.
