RUBANDA-The Rubanda Town Council Mayor Norman Tushabe has said that he is fearful over political fights on rise that are dividing political leaders in the district.
Tushabe expressed his worry over how the Rubanda district woman member of parliament, Hon Prosy Akampurira Mbabazi has on several times been heated on social media platforms and accused by her fellow political leaders while executing her work in the district.
Tushabe frankly said this during the induction service of Venerable Noah Kyoma, the Archdeacon of Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry on Friday this week that was presided over by the bishop of the diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna at St Mark Nyaruhanga church of Uganda parish in Rubanda district.
Tushabe said that Hon Prosy is being accused of attending Anglican Church service by her fellow politicians, a thing he said is affecting developments in the area.
Speaking as the guest of honor, Hon Prosy Akampurira Mbabazi restored hope among constituents to shun away from fear and put trust in God for he is above and takes control over everything.
She said that her focus is on unity, restoring peace, working for developments among her constituents and serving all people.
Last year, Also the Deputy Resident district commissioner, Sam Evidence Orikunda said the Cheeky fights are obstructing development in the districts because if the leaders cannot sit together and plan for their community then there will be no chance of the development to take place.
Orikunda observed that people of whom they represent will always complain for lack of services because their leaders are lost in cheeky fights.
“As we head to 2026, most leaders are already engaged in serious fights with some of them being unable to greet each other when they meet at public functions. Some can’t even share a seat or even mention the name of the other. Looking at them, you see a face of hate and enmity. This enmity is going to even grow as we head to the time of electioneering” Orikunda said.
He says that Cheeky fights are against the ideology of the National Resistance Movement which is very clear about the Unity of the people of Uganda.
“President Museveni has always said that the tribes, the faith and different language we speak isn’t important and should never be a reason to divide us as Ugandans and Africans” he said.
He adds that the National Resistance Movement party should pick an interest in the fights that are happening in the lower administrations and forge solutions for them.
“There should be a mechanism of bringing to order the politicians who deviate from the historical mission of the NRM which is to bring services closer to the people but instead engage the public in unnecessary politicking and fights trying to create their own power bases” he said.
