Minister of State for General Duties, Henry Musasizi, has emphasized that climate change is a global challenge affecting all nations, regardless of their emission levels, and called for collective, evidence-based, and sustainable solutions to tackle its impacts.

The Minister made the remarks on Tuesday while officially opening the in-person Global Deputies’ Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Change at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

“Many countries are grappling with increasingly frequent and severe climate shocks, which put immense pressure on public finances and budget execution,” Musasizi said.

Minister Musasizi highlighted the critical role of finance ministers in safeguarding national budgets, maintaining fiscal discipline, and creating pathways for sustained economic growth and development.

Minister Musasizi noted that Uganda has benefited significantly from the Coalition’s platform, which promotes peer learning, knowledge development, and capacity building, leading to practical improvements in budgeting, modeling, and policy processes.
