Multi-Agency Task Force Trains 24 Officers to Combat Trafficking in Persons

KAMPALA – A total of 24 officers from various agencies have undergone intensive training on reviewing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Investigating and Prosecuting Trafficking in Persons.

The training took place at Kabila Country Club, Kampala, with a primary focus on thoroughly examining the dissemination plan and defining precise timing and modalities for successful implementation and monitoring.

During the training, the participants engaged in simulations using the SOPs, incorporating insights from CIVIPOL national anti-trafficking experts and utilizing the National Referral Guidelines.

This collaborative effort demonstrates a strong commitment among multiple agencies and organizations to effectively combat trafficking in persons. The Multi-Agency Task Force aims to strengthen collective capacity and capability to respond to and prosecute trafficking offenses in Uganda.

Organized by the Office of the Public Prosecutions and the Uganda Police Force, in collaboration with other ministries and supported by CIVIPOL and UNODC, this training seeks to empower officers with vital knowledge and initiatives to safeguard vulnerable individuals and uphold justice.

Together, these officers form a formidable force against trafficking, working tirelessly to protect the rights and well-being of those vulnerable to exploitation. The ultimate goal is to eradicate human trafficking within the country, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
