The Ndorwa West Member of Parliament, Eliab Mporera Naturinda, has called on government officials and civil servants to shun corruption, warning that the vice continues to undermine Uganda’s development and productivity.

Mporera made the remarks on Monday, May 18, during the burial service of the late Jesika Adrine Babwekyeka held at Rwanyena Church of Uganda in Kishaze, Rubaya Sub-county, Kabale District.

The legislator expressed concern over the increasing corruption scandals in the country, saying they have negatively affected Uganda’s image and slowed national progress.

He referenced recent political developments surrounding the leadership of Parliament, noting that accountability and integrity must remain key values among public officials.

“Civil servants must avoid rampant corruption because it continues to derail service delivery and national development. The government under President Museveni, together with other leaders, is committed to fighting corruption,” Mporera said.

“The time for politics is behind us. Leaders should now concentrate on delivering services to the people and addressing community challenges,” he added.

“Women should always respect their elders and maintain strong family bonds. Respect within families promotes harmony and blessings,” Bishop Akanjuna said.

Bishop Akanjuna also urged both men and women to take responsibility for caring for their aging parents, noting that acts of compassion and responsibility inspire younger generations and attract God’s blessings.
