WAKISO: As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) prepares to enter the final phase of its membership register display and update on Wednesday, January 29th, party officials on Monday began dispatching registration materials from the 151 NRM electoral districts to villages across the country.
The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, who oversees the Kampala metropolitan area, flagged off the materials— including register books— at the Wakiso district headquarters for distribution to all villages in Wakiso.
Addressing the registrars during a final briefing, Namayanja urged them to ensure timely delivery of the registration kits to every village by Wednesday to avoid any disruptions.
“We are entrusting these kits to you and ask you to take full responsibility for their security,” Namayanja emphasized.
She also warned registrars against engaging in corruption or succumbing to political interference aimed at manipulating the register.
“We will take strict action against anyone found colluding with politicians to tamper with the register, such as including opposition supporters with the intent of jeopardizing the upcoming primary elections,” she cautioned.
Namayanja further encouraged registrars to mobilize young people aged 16 and above to register as members of the NRM.
“We need the youth to join the NRM. It is the only way we can remain strong and dominant, like other revolutionary parties such as the ANC in South Africa and Chama Cha Mapinduzi in Tanzania,” she said.
