The National Unity Platform (NUP) has raised alarm over the alleged abduction of Ms Doreen Kaija, the Principal of the NUP School of Leadership, from her home in Mbuya by unidentified armed men believed to be security operatives.
‎
‎According to NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Kaija was reportedly picked up on Sunday evening by heavily armed men traveling in two drones and driven to an unknown destination.
‎
‎Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, condemned the act, saying the raid was carried out by plain-clothed men who gave no explanation for Kaija’s arrest or whereabouts.
‎
‎“Two drones with heavily armed men raided her home and drove her away without giving any information as to why or where she was being taken,” Ssenyonyi said.
‎
‎NUP President Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, also issued a strong statement, describing the incident as another act of intimidation against the opposition.
‎
‎“We’ve been informed of the abduction of our comrade Kaija Doreen. Heavily armed men moving in two drones picked her up and drove her to an unknown destination,” Kyagulanyi stated.
‎
‎He further warned that such actions would not weaken the party’s resolve. “Dictator Museveni must know that these criminal actions will never break our spirit. A time will surely come when Ugandans will say ENOUGH to this nonsense.”
‎
‎By press time, neither security agencies nor government officials had issued a statement regarding Kaija’s whereabouts.
