Police Retrieve floating Body from Lake Bunyonyi

KABALE – Police in Kabale District are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified adult male.

The lifeless body of the unidentified individual was discovered floating in the waters of Lake Bunyonyi on September 26, 2023.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region Police, provided details of the incident. He reported that the Marine police was promptly informed about the discovery, and the incident was duly registered. Subsequently, the deceased’s body was carefully transported to the Rutindo landing site.

In addition to the involvement of the Marine police, Maate revealed that a specialized homicide team from the Kabale Central Police station was alerted to the situation.

They visited the crime scene to gather evidence and assess the circumstances surrounding the individual’s demise. Following their examination, the body was transported to the mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital to undergo a postmortem examination.

Maate appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the deceased. He urged anyone who may be missing a loved one to visit the hospital mortuary, where efforts will be made to establish the individual’s identity. Subsequently, appropriate arrangements can be made for a dignified burial.
