Police in Nebbi District have arrested one Munguryek Morgan in connection with the theft of a motorcycle belonging to Jakisa Emmy Saviour, following a successful operation involving a police sniffer dog.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred on 26th January 2026 when Jakisa Emmy Saviour discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen from where it was parked.
He immediately reported the matter to police under SD Reference 15/27/01/2026 and requested the deployment of a police sniffer dog to aid in the investigation.
A team of officers, led by a trained dog handler, promptly responded to the scene of crime, which had been well preserved. The police sniffer dog, T/P 237 Pablo, was introduced to the scent bed and quickly picked up a human scent believed to have been left by the suspect.
The dog tracked the scent for approximately 80 metres, leading officers to a spot where a motorcycle handle had been abandoned.
The tracking exercise continued to a nearby residence, where the dog briefly rotated before heading straight to a pit latrine. Upon inspection, officers found Munguryek Morgan hiding inside.
The suspect was immediately arrested and escorted to Nebbi Police Station to assist with further investigations.
The recovered motorcycle handle has been secured as an exhibit.
Police say investigations into the matter are ongoing.
