President Yoweri Museveni has praised the residents of Rwakitura for their active participation in the NRM village-level elections, describing the mobilisation efforts as vital for internal democracy and long-term national development.
While overseeing the electoral process in Rwakitura Cell, Kiruhura District, the President highlighted the thorough verification of the NRM register, which confirmed 290 eligible voters after ineligible names were removed.
He said this demonstrated the party’s commitment to credible and transparent structures.
President Museveni urged residents to support elected NRM flag bearers in both internal and national elections and welcomed the increasing involvement of young people in politics.
On economic development, the President encouraged locals to adopt modern agricultural practices such as zero grazing and irrigation, citing their potential to significantly boost household income.
He pledged government support for pasture development and solar-powered water systems to enhance productivity in the region.
Highlighting the benefits of intensive farming, Museveni noted that with proper pasture management, a family could raise up to eight cows on just one acre.
He referenced Richard Nyakana, a farmer from Kabarole, as an example of how small plots of land can yield substantial returns when used efficiently.
He also discouraged the subdivision of family land, instead advocating for joint farming enterprises where proceeds are shared sustainably.
Further government support was promised for banana growers and dairy farmers, particularly in irrigation and water infrastructure.
Kiruhura District NRM Chairperson, Nzeire Kaguta, attended the event and thanked the President for his direct involvement.
He said Museveni’s hands-on leadership underscores his unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment and national development.
