Four senior officials of Mbale District Local Government have been interdicted to pave the way for investigations into allegations of gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and possible financial impropriety.
The interdicted officials are Principal Civil Engineer Eng. Kasaata Edson, Principal Health Officer in charge of Environmental Health Wandera Charles, Senior Civil Engineer Eng. Wanasolo Anthony and Senior Physical Planner Fred Nambafu.
The interdictions follow concerns raised during a meeting convened by the Minister of Local Government, Balaam Barugahara in Mbale District.
In a directive to the district authorities on Wednesday, Ben Kumumanya, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, said the alleged misconduct had greatly compromised service delivery in the district.
He directed that the four officials be interdicted with immediate effect to allow investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies.
The directive was issued in accordance with Section F-s 14 of the Public Service Standing Orders, 2021.
