Police in Nakapiripirit District have arrested two more female suspects in connection with the mob killing of a police officer attached to Namalu Police Station, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four.
The deceased officer, Police Constable Richard Nokrach, was killed on May 26, 2026, after he allegedly knocked and injured an elderly man at Nalait Trading Centre.
According to police, the incident happened in the evening as Nokrach was returning from Moru Ajore Checkpoint to Namalu Police Station.
Two suspects were initially arrested shortly after the incident. However, a fresh security operation led by the Officer-in-Charge of Namalu Police Station, Kakembo Kassim, alongside personnel from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), saw 30 people rounded up from Nalait B Village in Kawach Sub-County for interrogation.
Following screening and statement recording, police identified two additional female suspects believed to have played a key role in the attack.
Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson Mike Longole confirmed the latest arrests, saying the two women have joined the earlier suspects already in custody.
The other suspects being held are identified as Lochuge Jacob and Lazarus Abura.
A postmortem examination on the deceased officer was conducted at Mbale City Mortuary as investigations continue.
