The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has taken decisive action to safeguard public safety and promote responsible media use by suspending the broadcast and distribution of the song “Mukube Paver” by Dynaso Wegoso.
In a statement issued to broadcasters, online content providers, and the general public, the Commission confirmed it had received numerous complaints regarding the song’s content and its growing influence, particularly among young people.
Following a preliminary review, UCC raised concerns that the song promotes and glorifies violence, with its messaging reportedly sparking risky imitation trends on social media platforms such as TikTok.
These trends, often presented as viral “challenges,” have been linked to potentially harmful behavior.
To address these concerns, the Commission directed all broadcasters to immediately halt the airing and distribution of the song across all media platforms.
In addition, digital platforms and internet service providers have been instructed to remove and restrict access to the song and any related content, including user-generated material tied to the viral challenges.
UCC emphasized that the move is aimed at protecting the public, especially young audiences, from exposure to harmful content while upholding national values and media standards.
The Commission also warned that individuals or entities found sharing or promoting the prohibited content could face legal consequences under the law.
As part of a constructive approach, UCC has invited Dynaso Wegoso to appear before the Commission on April 16, 2026, to discuss the findings and explore possible corrective measures.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a safe and responsible media environment, urging all stakeholders to exercise diligence in content creation and dissemination for the well-being of society.
