Unity & Cohesion Propel Rubanda to Top Performer Status – District LC.5 Chairperson Credits Political Harmony

RUBANDA – The Rubanda District LC.5 Chairperson, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, has attributed the recent recognition of Rubanda as one of the best-performing districts in Kigezi and the entire country to the Unity and Cohesion among the local political leaders.

Kasyaba made these remarks yesterday during the Sunday service at St Mark Nyaruhanga Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Rubanda Town Council.

He specifically referred to the recent rankings of local government performance, emphasizing service delivery and infrastructure development, especially in health and education. Rubanda has consistently ranked among the top-performing districts in Western Uganda over the last two financial years.

Kasyaba acknowledged that when he assumed leadership, the community was deeply divided. However, through the unity fostered within the Rubanda Political class, cohesion was restored. He highlighted that this unity has facilitated Rubanda East MP Henry Musasizi, now the State Minister of Finance, general duties, to effectively lobby for various projects and social services from the central government.

During the service, Kasyaba announced Minister Musasizi’s contribution of Shs. 5 million towards the construction of the Nyaruhanga Archdeacon’s residence, accompanied by an additional Shs. 500,000 from his own pocket as the District Chairman.

In a cautionary note, Ven. Noah Kyoma, the Archdeacon of Nyaruhanga Church of Uganda, warned politicians against engaging in early campaigns that could disrupt the existing political harmony in Rubanda District. He also expressed gratitude to Minister Musasizi for his generous contributions to Nyaruhanga C.O.U, Hmaurwa C.O.U, and the Lay leader’s house at Ruhonwa Church of Uganda, all under Nyaruhanga Archdeaconry.

Chairman Kasyaba further disclosed that the government had released funds for the second quarter, enabling Rubanda District Council to embark on the construction of three classroom blocks at Nangaaro Primary School, addressing the urgent need for teaching space. The project is estimated to cost Shs. 150 million.

Providing an update on ongoing construction, Kasyaba shared details about the progress at Muko Health Centre IV. With a government allocation of Shs. 6.5 billion to elevate the facility to a General Purpose Hospital, the UPDF Engineering Brigade is overseeing the construction works.
