Surgical artillery strikes by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have obliterated two key Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) positions in Mambasa territory, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), leaving dozens of terrorists dead.
The strikes, conducted last weekend on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November 2025, targeted ADF camps near Babunga village, south of River Epulu, under Operation Shujaa – the joint offensive by the UPDF and the Congolese army (FARDC).
According to intelligence reports corroborated by civilians living in the area, the terrorists suffered heavy casualties and significant damage to their infrastructure in the latest bombardment of their hideouts.
ADF leader Musa Baluku is suspected to have been in one of the targeted camps at the time of the attack, though his fate remains unclear.
Col. Chris Magezi, Acting Director, Defence Public Information in Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs / UPDF, say the sustained pressure from the joint forces has forced surviving ADF elements to flee in small, scattered groups across the vast jungles of eastern DRC in a desperate attempt to evade capture.
Col. Magezi says that Operation Shujaa, launched to neutralise the ADF menace and restore peace and stability along the Uganda–DRC border region, continues to target remaining terrorist hideouts with combined ground and air capabilities.
